About The Role

Immediate opportunity!

Qvisten is looking for a mid-level Animator / Layout Artist to join one of our upcoming feature films.

This is a project-based role where you will work as part of the project team, producing layout and animation for characters, props, cameras and other scene elements. The work will be carried out in line with the project’s creative direction, visual style, schedule and technical pipeline.

The role can be shaped depending on the candidate’s skillset:
Animation and layout: immediate start, lasting until the end of May 2027
Layout only: immediate start, lasting until the end of August 2026

Key Responsibilities
As Animator / Layout Artist on the project, you will:
  • Produce layout and/or animation based on the script, storyboard, animatic, layout and direction
  • Set up shots, cameras and scene layouts using approved project assets
  • Animate characters, props and actions with a focus on storytelling, timing, acting and clarity
  • Adjust shot setups to support staging, composition, continuity and production needs
  • Implement feedback from the Animation Supervisor, Animation Director and Director
  • Participate in project dailies, reviews and relevant production meetings
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth handovers and production-ready deliveries
  • Deliver work according to the project’s pipeline, technical requirements, file structure and naming conventions
  • Meet agreed deadlines, quotas and quality expectations for the production

About You

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mid-Level Animator in the animation, tv or film industry capable of outputing 3-4 seconds a day.
  • Has a solid understanding of character animation, timing, posing, acting and staging
  • Understands layout, camera work, composition, continuity and shot flow
  • Can work independently within an established project pipeline
  • Is comfortable receiving, understanding and implementing feedback
  • Communicates clearly when clarifications are needed or when there is a risk of delay or deviation
  • Works in a structured and reliable way, with respect for production deadlines and quotas
  • Has experience with Autodesk Maya
 
Pluses
  • Traditional 2D animation skills.
  • Being able to work in-house in our studio in Oslo.
  • Skills in other areas of production e.g. concept, character design, storyboarding,  modeling, rigging, compositing.
