About The Role

Would you like to help one of the leading animation studios in the Nordic push artistic boundaries?
Qvisten Animation is looking for an experienced lookdev artist to join our team.
This fully CG feature project requires highly detailed realistic textures using various methods - both
hand-painted and procedural texture creation. The look of the shading will lean more towards VFX rather than CGI/3D Animation.
 
The role is expected to be 5-6 months starting in January/February 2025, based on the candidate's availability
 
Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver stylized, as well as realistic textures and shaders that meet the
    artistic brief.
  • Analyze and carry over real-life observations to shaders.
  • Help develop our material library.
  • Ensure every asset you create meets the requirements of those downstream.
  • Work closely with the head of the department and the rest of the team to deliver quality
    assets on time.
  • Help train the team in shader creation and optimization

About You

Expectations
  • Strong skills in painting textures by hand and using photos as a base for textures.
  • Strong skills in creating procedural textures.
  • Strong Houdini skills.
  • Strong Mari skills.
  • Strong Substance Painter skills.
  • Strong Substance Designer skills.
  • Strong Material X skills.
  • Experience with Karma, Arnold, and/or similar render engines.
  • Take direction, collaborate, and be a team player
  • Able to deliver expected quality on time
  • The ideal candidate needs to master a variety of artistic styles, from highly stylized and
    playful to the photo-realistic
  • Excellent communication skills, a motivated team player
  • Technical and creative problem-solving
  • Willingness to share knowledge and grow together
Plusses
  • Three or more years of professional experience (film, TV, games, commercials)
  • Experience with Autodesk Maya.
  • Experience with Zbrush.
  • Experience with COPs in Houdini and other procedural workflows.
  • Willing to work in our studio in Oslo.
  • Python knowledge.
  • Skills in other areas, e.g., modeling, scripting, lighting, and post-production.
